Students at our school will be given every opportunity to enter the internationally recognised Royal Academy of Dance examinations. These are designed to motivate and reward pupils of all ages and levels of ability from pre-primary level up to grade 8.
Whilst examinations are not compulsory, they are encouraged to give the students a sense of achievement and purpose. We will notify you in writing if we feel your child is ready to take an RAD examination. In England the RAD exams are recognised by the governments UCAS system, allowing students who study and take exams with us, to use their exam marks to top up their UCAS points for university entry.
Examination marks are awarded for different dance qualities demonstrated throughout the exam and are totalled to give the following marks:
Distinction (75%-100%)
Merit (55%-74%)
Pass (54%-40%)
Standard not attained (0%-39%)
